We would like to share two ‘Good News’ stories from our Bupa site in Tauranga.
Monday 10 February
In the early hours of Monday morning, one of our Nutech officers demonstrated incredible presence of mind and care. While on duty, the officer noticed an elderly lady outside, wandering alone in little clothing and appearing disoriented. Without hesitation, the officer acted swiftly to assess the situation and called for assistance. With the support of a staff member from a nearby room, the officer was able to safely escort the lady back inside, ensuring she was warm and comfortable.
Monday 17 February
Once again, in the early hours of the morning, our team was faced with a challenging situation that required quick action. An elderly woman, determined to leave the village, tried to make her escape. She had packed her bags and placed them in the officer’s car, believing he was a taxi driver. Despite her determination, even sitting in the passenger seat, the officer’s quick thinking kept the situation under control. Recognising the need for support, he immediately called for assistance. Together with three other village staff members, they were able to calmly convince the woman to stay inside and wait for the 'taxi' that she was expecting.
Both situations are examples of our officers teamwork and the importance of staying composed when faced with unexpected challenges.
Thank you to the officers and all the staff involved for their dedication to ensuring the safety and comfort of the people in our care.
